<p>Dear Diary,</p>
<p>It&#8217;s been a while since we had a little chat, and today, I want to pour out my thoughts about this overwhelming feeling of loneliness that&#8217;s been following me around. You see, living alone can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it offers freedom, independence, and the space to truly be yourself. But on the other hand, it can sometimes leave you feeling isolated, craving companionship and connection.</p>
<p>These past few weeks, that feeling of solitude has been gnawing at me more than usual. I come home to an empty apartment, the silence echoing through the rooms, and it feels like I&#8217;m carrying the weight of my own company. There are moments when I long for someone to share laughter, conversations, and even the mundane routines of daily life.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not that I don&#8217;t appreciate my alone time—I do. I enjoy the peace and quiet, the chance to reflect and recharge. But there&#8217;s a difference between choosing solitude and feeling forced into it. It&#8217;s during those times when the loneliness hits the hardest, when I yearn for someone to share moments, to create memories with, and to feel that sense of belonging.</p>
<p>I find myself yearning for connection, for a friend who understands me deeply and accepts me for who I am. Someone I can call up at any hour, have spontaneous adventures with, or simply sit in comfortable silence. The ache for companionship is a reminder of the human need for connection, for belonging, and for that warmth that comes from shared experiences.</p>
<p>But you know what, Diary? Despite these feelings of loneliness, I also recognize the opportunity that living alone provides. It&#8217;s a chance to discover who I truly am, to explore my own interests and passions, and to embrace self-reliance. I can decorate my space exactly the way I like, dance around in my pajamas, and indulge in my guilty pleasures without judgment. There is a certain freedom that comes with being solely responsible for myself.</p>
<p>In the midst of this rollercoaster of emotions, I try to remind myself to embrace solitude rather than let it overwhelm me. I find solace in hobbies and activities that bring me joy, like reading a captivating book, experimenting with new recipes, or even diving into creative pursuits. I&#8217;m learning to appreciate the beauty of my own company, to cultivate self-love and self-compassion.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s essential to remember that this feeling of loneliness is temporary. Life is full of surprises, and the right people will find their way into my world when the time is right. Until then, I&#8217;ll continue to cherish the moments of solitude, knowing that they are an opportunity for personal growth, self-reflection, and self-discovery.</p>
<p>Well, Diary, it feels good to get these thoughts off my chest. Thank you for being my confidant, always there to listen without judgment. Tomorrow is a new day, filled with possibilities and the potential for connection. Until then, I&#8217;ll hold onto hope and keep making the most of this solo journey.</p>

<p>I struggle a lot with loneliness. It is a challenging and scary experience, but I always try to remember that I have  resources and support available to help me get through my lonely and difficult days. Remembering this has not completely alleviated my loneliness but it has helped me so much, and I would like to share these resources with you.</p>
<p>Firstly, you should try to reach out to friends and family. Even if you feel like you have nowhere to go physically, you can still connect with loved ones through phone calls, text messages, or video chats. Sharing your feelings with someone you trust can provide emotional support and comfort.</p>
<p>Secondly, you should try to seek support from mental health professionals. Consider reaching out to a therapist, counselor, or psychologist who can provide guidance and help you navigate your feelings of loneliness. They can offer coping strategies, techniques, and a safe space for you to express your emotions.</p>
<p>Thirdly, you should try and join community or interest-based groups. Try and look for local community groups, clubs, or organizations that align with your interests or hobbies. Participating in activities with like-minded individuals can help you meet new people and build connections. I also like to volunteer or engage in social activities. Volunteering for a cause you care about or participating in social activities can provide opportunities to meet new people and create meaningful connections. furthermore, the internet offers various online communities and forums where you can connect with people who share similar interests or experiences. Engaging in discussions or seeking support from these communities can help alleviate feelings of loneliness.</p>
<p>Remember that you are not alone, and there are people who care and want to help. It may take time to find the right support system, but reaching out and seeking help is an important step towards feeling less lonely.</p>

	<p>Whilst the holiday season is meant to be a time of joy, family and gifts. It can also be triggering for many people and bring about bouts of anxiety, depression and feeling lonely. As someone who lost both her parents at an early age. I know too well how difficult this time of year can be.; especially as so many people post and share pictures of themselves with loved ones. Thankfully that pain that I felt for many years over the holiday season has been made better by having my own family.</p>
<p>This however does not mean that even as I look on at my daughter playing. Or get to spend the holiday season with my husband and his family. That I do not feel somewhat alone. This is why I like to apply some techniques I have learnt and used for many years to help me cope with this time of the year. And I hope that they help you too.</p>
<p>The first thing I like to do is spend some time honouring my parents. I like to do this by saying a little prayer, looking at pictures of them or even eating, drinking or watching things that they enjoyed. This helps to remind me of the good times we had together. And helps me feel like in some way they are with me.</p>
<p>The second thing I like to do is to talk to my sisters with whom I shared parents too. Knowing that she too may be feeling the same way I am, and also reminding myself that whilst I may have lost my parents, I do have my sisters. It is not a cure-all and not possible for everyone. But I find that the connection, laughs and memories help remind me that I am not alone.</p>
<p>Lastly, I like to up my self-care routine and take time for myself. Some of the many ways I like to practice self-care is watching movies, reading, going for walks and giving myself facials. I also ensure not to drink like a fish to deal with my emotions as I have in the past, as I have come to realize that whilst drinking may provide some temporary release and relief. It does little to deal with the actual problem.</p>
