We live in the age of highlights
Smiles are uploaded , struggles are archived
Strength is filtered , pain is cropped

But mental health does not live in captions
It lives in the quiet spaces , between
Expectations and exhaustion , faith and fear
Success and silence

I learned this the hard way
There was a time I thought strength meant endurance without confession
That resilience meant silence . That being okay was a responsibility not a reality
I could motivate others , show up for people , lead , build , create ,
Yet still go home internally empty . functioning but not fine

Mental health struggles rarely arrive with announcements

They arrive disguised as fatigue , irritability , loss of joy ,
Spiritual dryness , disconnection
A constant mental noise you cannot switch off

In many of our communities we are taught to pray but not always to process ,
To believe but not always to speak
To endure but not always to feel ,

Yet healing begins where honesty enters ,
Let us speak
Let us listen
Let us heal , out loud.

We all think it’s a guy’s job to have condoms all the time, but what about us ladies? Why are we scared to just go buy a packet of condoms in a shop? Is it because we worry about what people will say? Or that we will be judged by the teller at the counter who may think we are loose? What ever the case, I believe it’s everyone’s responsibility to carry a condom. Especially if you are sexually active.

As a woman, carrying a condom means you care about your health, well being  and that you are willing to take the steps to protect yourself in any way possible.
So what if your boyfriend or sexual partner doesn’t want to use a condom then just keep our mantra in mind.
If it’s not on, it’s not on.
Meaning if your guy isn’t wearing a condom we aren’t going to have sex. For us the pleasure is the same so why would we put ourselves at risk of contracting STIs, HIV or falling pregnant just because a guy says he likes having sex without one?

It also boils down to respect and if our guys respect us then they will be happy to protect us. Condoms are the only form of contraception that will protect us against STIs and HIV and do not have any health side effects.
SO ladies don’t be shy, protect yourself and carry a condom. Think of it as just another essential in your purse. After all, your health is in your hands.
