.If you struggle when reading books with lengthy paragraphs. Then you might want to try this particular book: The Secret. Which is a simple and interesting read. With a throw of different authors and experts in psychology, research, teaching, philosophy, and other intellectual respective fields. Shonda Byrnes put together what seems to me, a guide to a simple and better prospect of living a fruitful life. Not only so, but also enlightening the vitality of higher power in many distinctive ways.

Although the bits and pieces of advice in this book seem unequivocally subtle and somewhat easy. The practice of perfecting a positive-filled lifestyle is a process and also to some extent needs persistence and patience. For example, it might seem easy to wake up every day and affirm money into your life. Or to use the law of attraction by always thinking about money. However, for you to get to a place where you are fulfilled. It won’t only take mere positive thinking or affirmation. To my understanding, practical work, a little bit of persistence and patience are equally as important.

It has only been a year since I read this book as recommended by a distant friend from high school. And I still remember precisely how it took humbleness, perspective, and several chapters’ revisit for me to come to an understanding of what the rules and laws mentioned in the book mean and how they work. Not that I have arrived at what the book describes as “the secret”, but at least I can say I have a different perspective now compared to before reading the book.

The description of the kind of book I wanted when I asked my friend went along the ways of spiritual and personal development. And to my knowledge, I expected a book about religion and maybe a couple of guidelines on how to live optimistically. Well, The secret is not in any way pointing at specific religion or listing guidelines on how to retain positive thoughts 99% of the time. Instead, it provides all the necessary and needed information for everyone to gain regardless of their religious beliefs.

In summary, the book reveals to us the “secrets” to life. And different vital aspects of life such as relationships, health, money, personal growth, etc… In doing so, the author explains these secrets using the law of attraction (which she describes as the law of nature) and the law of the universe (which, to me, is equivalent to the higher power.)

Endnote

”I believe that you’re great, that there’s something magnificent about you. Regardless of what has happened to you in your life. Regardless of how young or old you think you might be. The moment you begin to “think properly,” this something that’s within you, this power within you that’s greater than the world, will begin to emerge. It will take over your life. It will feed you. It will clothe you. It will guide you, protect you, direct you, sustain your very existence. If you let it Now that is what I know, for sure.” – Michael Bernard Beckwith, featured author in The Secret.
