I don’t know about you ladies, but the past two years have been a rollercoaster of emotions. From breakups to the world crisis at large and of course COVID 19. It often feels like things just keep piling on. And sucker-punching me back to square one. This is why whilst I love having and talking to loved ones when I need advice, a friendly face or even just a good hang out. I have also come to learn in the past two years the importance of being my own best friend. With so many loved ones going through their own drama, personal crisis and loss, it can sometimes be impossible to get the support and love I want and need from others. This is why in 2022, I am getting serious about being my own best friend.
This does not mean however that I am forgoing all friendships or outside support. But rather, in times of crisis when no one is around, I am setting up tools and mechanisms to help me through. From early morning runs to movie dates alone and long hot baths, I am doing this all in the name of my personal sanity. Because whilst it is nice to have others to share your problems with. Sometimes you simply have to go through it alone.
And with the threat of COVID 19 disrupting our lives for another year. It seems even more important to know how to take care of yourself. To know when to say no, or when to say yes. To dress up just for yourself, make yourself laugh and let yourself know it’s ok to fall apart. So while you are hugging loved ones tighter in these crazy times, make sure to leave an extra squeeze just for you. And remember that tough times do not last, but tough people do. You’ve got this sis!
