It’s okay, I’ll be strong,
But being a woman isn’t easy – all day long.
I carry a heavy load, the burden of expectations high,
A heavy heart with judgments to hold.
I wear many hats, with roles to juggle,
Care for others, work, and handle this and that,
I put others first, giving until I am drained,
Sometimes I wonder, “Can I live? Or merely exist in pain?”
For myself, my dreams, my wants,
I yearn to be more than mom, wife, or daughter’s hands.
To be a woman with my own voice to share my thoughts,
Free from what others think, and societal expectations.
For the sake of my child, I’ll be brave and true,
I’ll give him the best life, and see him through.
Although he’s not from my womb, I will live for him,
I’ll love him with all my heart, and be his guiding whim.
I’ll rise above, and shine so brightly,
I’ll make my own way, through day and night.
I’ll be a role model – teach speak his mind,
I’ll show him what it means to be strong, brave, and wise.
I’ll teach him to stand up, for what he believes,
And to be a good person, with a heart that can breathe.
I’ll be his rock, his safe haven, his shining light,
I’ll guide him through life’s journey, through every up and down.
It’s okay, I’ll be strong,
But being a woman isn’t easy, all day long.
I’ll keep fighting for my rights,
For the freedom to be me, shining with all my might.
I’ll stand up tall, I’ll speak my mind,
I’ll be a woman of power, one of a kind.
I’ll make a difference, I’ll leave my mark,
I’ll be a woman who shines, like a shining spark.
